Michigan solid oak dining table

This 100% solid oak twin pedestal table is one of our most popular, has a chunky 8cm thick top, and is finished in a wonderfully scented citrus oil, which protects and enhances the timber.
Available in 5 standard sizes, or made to measure in any length from 122 cm to 505cm, and any width up to 129cm. Standard height is 77cm. There are three price bands for width - up to 96cm (prices below), up to 116cm, and up to 129cm. Please contact us with your requirements.
This very popular table is incredibly sturdy, and is made using thick cuts of timber which are especially selected for their character.
The distinctive 8cm top is created by first making an oversize panel in 40mm solid oak. Strips are then cut from all four sides, and these are then folded round to create the 8cm thickness. The result is a beautiful mirrored grain detail on all four edges, which has the added bonus of helping to stabilise the top and reducing movement caused by shrinkage.
The timber used for the legs is allowed to split naturally during the seasoning process. During production the edges are smoothed, and more splits are cut into the timber to regularise their distributuion. Naturally, the number, size, distribution, or depth of the splits is unique to each table, and cannot be specified.
The table top is also made from character oak which will include small knots (which may be filled or left open), variable grain structure, and variable colour. Small cracks and splits known as shakes, which occur as the timber dries and shrinks, are also left as nature intended. As with the legs, the edges of these may be softened to make them user friendly.
As with any solid oak product, some movement should be expected as the timber reacts to ambient humidity changes.
Prices include delivery and assembly (the legs can be removed) within our free zone, and delivery is usually within 8 weeks (even for made to measure tables).
